304 SS wire mesh can operate continuously at temperatures up to 870°C (1600°F) in intermittent service and 925°C (1700°F) in continuous service. For cryogenic applications, it remains tough down to -196°C.
304 SS has moderate corrosion resistance in marine environments but is not recommended for continuous saltwater exposure. For marine applications, 316 SS with molybdenum is strongly recommended.
Yes, 304 SS has excellent weldability using all standard welding methods (TIG, MIG, resistance welding). No post-weld annealing is required for most applications, though it may improve corrosion resistance.
